Nobody orders their own dinner.
You arrive at one shared café table with a small group of people you probably haven’t met before. I welcome everyone and pair you with another guest. You get a few minutes and some playful food prompts to understand them their comfort food, things they never order, what they crave after a long day, what “healthy” means to them, sweet vs savoury, adventurous vs familiar.
Then comes the catch: you choose their bowl, and they choose yours. Dietary restrictions are already taken care of, so you can actually play. When the food arrives, you reveal why you picked what you did. I move through the table not grading anyone, but questioning assumptions, spotting interesting choices and sharing how a nutritionist actually looks at a plate. Then everyone votes: which of tonight’s plates do you think I would personally choose?
I finally reveal my pick and explain why. After that, seats loosen up, conversations move around the table, and you simply eat with a bunch of people you didn’t know an hour ago.
